You Might Need To Wait Another 2 Years To Play Titanfall 2
Excited by the idea of playing Titanfall 2 this year? Bad news, folks. There’s a very good chance you’ll need to wait at least another 12 months to get your hands on it, if not longer.
EA used last night’s earnings call to discuss the upcoming sequel from Respawn, telling listeners to “assume” that the title won’t release until EA’s 2017 Financial Year.
“In terms of Titanfall, you should assume that that’s not in fiscal 2016. It’s more likely in fiscal 2017,” said EVP Blake Jorgensen. “And a title of that size, we want to be pretty clear as to when it’s falling in the title slate, and so your assumption should be 2017.”
FY 2017 translates to a release window of April 2016 to March 2017.
EA has already confirmed that a new Battlefield title – from DICE, we assume – will launch late in 2016, meaning Titanfall 2 could assume the March 2017 release slot again.
Either way, we can’t wait to see what Respawn is able to create with a two-three year development cycle – it’s hard to believe, but Titanfall originally launched on Xbox One March 2014.
