Xbox One Outsells PS4 At Black Friday, Price-Cut Predicted
The Xbox One was the highest selling console during the Black Friday period in the US, according to data analysts InfoScout.
InfoScout say that the Xbox One had a 31% share of console sales during the period, in comparison to the PS4’s 15%.
If that’s leading you to assume that the Xbox One has proved predictions that it would be outsold by the PS4 incorrect, you might want to think again.
According to the analysts, the Xbox One’s greater share of sales can largely be attributed to the limited availability of PS4s.
Indeed, analyst Michael Pachter has weighed in, predicting that the PS4 will gain an advantage over the Xbox One in the early running.
“Next few months I think they both sell out. If either of them gathers dust on the shelf it’ll be the Xbox One because of the price-point,” Pachter said in an interview with GameTrailers.
“Next year I’d say Sony out-sells Microsoft by 25%, so probably 12 million to 9 million or something. Something like that. And I think Sony keeps the lead until Microsoft cuts the price or explains to us why that Kinect is actually worth an extra hundred bucks,” Pachter continued.
Pachter also predicted that we are likely to see an Xbox One price-cut in the not too distant future.
“I think Microsoft – in a year or two – Microsoft will cut price. They’ll be priced the same, they’ll sell neck-in-neck. Sony gets an early lead, Microsoft claws its way back,” said Pachter.
