Xbox One Kinect: “unique and innovative experiences” on the way
Kinect Sports Rivals has landed on Xbox One and while there have been few complaints about the quality or fidelity on Kinect controls for the game, mixed reviews on the whole have left many asking questions about the future of Microsoft’s motion control tech. Speaking exclusively to X-ONE, Rare and Harmonix backed the technology to prove its worth soon.
“The second and third generation Xbox One titles will unlock unique and innovative experiences with Kinect.” Jonathan Mintz, lead designer on Harmonix’s upcoming Fantasia: Music Evolved game, insisted to us. “As a developer, your first impulse with a new platform is to try adapting what you know… but to really excel, you need to start from the strengths of your platform.”
Meanwhile Rare is wasting no time in building that next round of titles. “Our incubation team already has a number of great ideas that have Kinect at their heart,” Rare’s Danny Isaac revealed. “There are whole new areas of gaming, maybe even whole new genres that can be unlocked via Kinect.”
