Xbox Live DLC 2GB Limit Altered Launch Plans – Dev
Xbox Live downloadable content (not including Games on Demand) is limited to 2GB according to Mori, which meant Arc System Works' original plans for the 2D fighter had to change – from initially offering a paltry four fighters.
"The limitations of downloadable content – for instance Microsoft’s is 2GB – meant we had to abandon a plan to sell the game with only four characters at a relatively small price and then sell the additional characters separately," Mori told Play Magazine.
The producer added that the strategy could come to fruition in future, adding: "That’s something I planned that didn’t materialise, but it’s something that I still hope to be able to do sometime."
Hydrophobia was one such game that had to be squeezed to fit Microsoft's file limitations after dev Dark Energy Digital decided to switch the game from a physical release to digital.
Some of the largest DLC content on Xbox Live is under 2GB, with 360 timed-exclusives The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony for GTA IV weighing in at 1.78GB and 1.87GB respectively
