WWE Is Doing A Pokémon Go Storyline And It’s Absurd
Whenever you see videogames in a scripted TV show, it usually turns out pretty badly – you know the drill, someone’s playing a DS but the sound effects are from an Atari 2600 game, or two people are somehow competing in a single-player game. Surprisingly (or not), WWE’s latest attempt at incorporating a hot pop culture trend is more evidence of this embarrassing habit.
Resident comedy tag team The Golden Truth (Goldust and R-Truth, weighing in at a combined age of 91 years old) is currently obsessed with the game, causing chaos backstage and even in the ring. The only problem is that it seems R-Truth hasn’t actually played the game – he’s always been a bit of a spaced-out character, but his weird habit of grasping at the air in front of his phone as he interrupts a match or misses a crucial tag in a match is… odd.
We’re all for mentioning a hot game, but maybe stick to resident gaming expert Xavier Woods – or even bring in a true Pokémon master like Joe Hendry. Take a look at some, erm… “highlights” of this storyline below and judge for yourself.
