We Can Hardly Believe This Ridiculous Forza Horizon 2 Expansion Is Real
The best (unofficial) Fast & Furious games were always EA’s Need For Speed: Underground games, right? Well, Turn 10 and Playground Games is about to ensure that Forza Horizon is now the home of all official The Fast And the Furious larks. Wait, what?
Yahoo is reporting that a free standalone expansion themed around the ever-popular Fast & Furious movie series is in development for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 versions of Forza Horizon 2.
Apparently this is a real thing and absolutely not something the Internet has made up.
The downloadable title, called ‘Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious’ is due for release on 27 March to help promote the upcoming Furious 7 movie. It will allegedly also feature cars and missions inspired by the film franchise, as well as a couple of familiar faces.
So, what sorts of missions? It doesn’t look like any mental heist missions will show up – which is a crying shame – instead, players will be tasked with sourcing vehicles for mechanic Tej Parker, played by rapper Ludacris.
Cars confirmed to be drivable include the 1998 Toyota Supra, 1970 Plymouth Road Runner, 2012 Nissan GT-R, 1970 Plymouth Cuda, 2013 Jeep Wrangler, 2014 Maserati Ghibli S and 2015 Dodge Charger.
“We weren’t interested in doing yet another movie-based game,” Turn 10 studio head Alan Hartman told the site. “That’s not what our franchise is about. When we started talking about this with Universal years ago, it was really about bringing both of our franchise’s strengths to the table. We’re building on top of everything we’ve done over the last decade.”
“It’s kind of been a grand experiment,” continued Hartman. “I hope what we’re doing here is a model for what we do in the future. It’s been a great relationship, and I don’t want to end it after this, so we’ll see what’s possible in the future.”
Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious will be available for free until 10 April, after which it will most likely cost $10.
