Watch Dogs: the true story behind the delay
We had hoped to play Watch Dogs on day one of the Xbox One’s launch, but only a month before its release, Ubisoft dropped the bombshell the game was being pushed back. Now, with only a few weeks before it finally lands, Ubisoft Montreal spoke exclusively to X-ONE about what really happened last October.
“We did not delay the game to change it,” Watch Dogs creative director Jonathan Morin assured us. “We simply wanted to deliver the experience and the fantasy as intended”
The key was that Ubisoft Montreal felt it was losing sight of the game it always wanted to make in the face of such a strict deadline for Xbox One’s console launch. “We started to feel we needed to cut corners to ship it in time. We decided to delay the experience instead, so we could use our Plan A and not our Plan B to fix the last issues.”
