Was Sledgehammer’s Call Of Duty Title Space Warfare?
Modern Warfare 3 developer Sledgehammer Games has revealed that the third-person Call of Duty game it was working on for Activision had a similar atmosphere to Dead Space.
“It was a third-person action-adventure game, it was a shooter, and it was not based in this era,” studio co-founder Glen Schofield told said during CoD XP.
The game has since been cancelled, with Schofield telling NowGamer Sledgehammer was unlikely to return to the project as it was ‘too niche’.
Schofield also revealed that Sledgehammer came up with the third-person concept, while he and dev partner Michael Condrey were picked specifically by Infinity Ward to work on the franchise.
The combination of Dead Space developers and a setting “not based in this era” suggests something more futuristic in tone – could it relate to the Call of Duty: Space Warfare trademark registered by Activision some time ago?
Modern Warfare 3 launches for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC on 8 November worldwide.
