To The Tower At Once! Xur Is Selling Gjallarhorn!
Destiny’s most ludicrously overpowered weapon, the mighty Gjallarhorn, has eluded even many of the games most loyal players for months. But today, that can finally change – for the first time since the game’s second week, visiting merchant Xur is selling the Exotic rocket launcher so that everyone might enjoy a slice of rocket-propelled OP. But hurry, because he’ll only be there until Sunday morning (16 August, 10am BST) and who knows when (if?) he’ll sell it again.
Following reports that the weapon had been removed from Xur’s loot table after its first (and only, before today) time in Xur’s pop-up shop to stop Gjally from being the be-all and end-all for Strikes and Raids, it would seem that the recent patch added the weapon back in. But why?
The answer is simple – Gjallarhorn won’t be the best weapon in the game for much longer, so Bungie is being nice and giving everyone a taster of its insane power before the launcher gets nerfed to high heaven in patch 2.0 next month. It’ll likely still be good – it fires homing missiles that detonate near targets and burst into more homing missiles, which can never really be bad – but its status as a Solar Burn staple might be called into question, especially with so many powerful new weapons set to be thrown into the mix with The Taken King.
Xur is downstairs in the bar-type area near the Shipwright this week, and is happy to exchange the legendary Gjallarhorn for just 17 of your Strange Coins. If anyone cares, he’s also selling Achlyophage Symbiote for Hunters, An Insurmountable Skullfort for Titans, Light Beyond Nemesis for Warlocks (13 Strange Coins each), Exotic Shards for 7 Coins and Exotic arm Engrams for 23 Motes Of Light. Oh, and he’s got Heavy Ammo Synths too, so send those rockets a-flyin’, Guardians!
