This Mario Maker Troll Is Incomprehensible
According to 30 Rock’s resident intellectual titan Tracy Jordan, “The future is like a Japanese game show. You have no idea what’s going on.” Far be it from us to perpetuate stereotypes, but he might just be right.
Below you can see a clip from the TV series Detective Batsu, in which a detective is playing Super Mario Maker. He manages to avoid Bowser, make it through the pipe, and then gets dumped into an abyss. He starts crying, only for a Thai kickboxer to kick him in the arse and walk off.
Even if you read Japanese, it’s hard to work out what’s going on. The challenge seems to be for the player, Tanaka, to clear one course of Super Mario Maker – but when he’s dropped into the abyss, the blocks say 田中タイキック (“Tanaka Thai Kick”), which hints at his punishment but still leaves us in the dark. Poor Tanaka.
If you want to see the course, there’s a video here.
