The Best Place To Play The Binding Of Isaac? Surprisingly… It’s On 3DS
Wait, so we’re saying Nintendo’s family friendly portable console is the best place to play one of the weirdest, most disturbing games released in the last 5 years? Yep.
You can only play The Binding Of Isaac: Rebirth on the New Nintendo 3DS models – but there’s a reason for that: that little control nub on the right hand side of the console is a godsend and it makes the left/right/up/down firing in the game feel incredibly responsive and reflexive.
Of course, you can use the face buttons to direct your fire if you’d rather not use the C-Stick, but once we got to grips with nudging the stick a little, we really enjoyed how the game works on Nintendo’s little console that can.
The second screen on the console also provides you with a map – a better, bigger map than you’d find inset in the game screen on Steam/PS4/Vita versions of the game – and it allows you to draw or make notes on it, too. This is mostly a cosmetic gimmick, but hey – it’s a bonus, fun feature.
There’s no stereoscopic 3D, which is a shame – we’d have loved to see a little flying turd coming RIGHT AT US, but alas. The N3Ds’ multiple shoulder buttons are good for activating everything from Tarot Cards to items to bombs, and we feel accidentally hit them less than we do the ones on Vita (but we still accidentally hit them.. it’s all part of the game’s charm).
Long story short- want something to waste your time on that isn’t a JRPG or a rhythm action game or a Mario game on 3DS? GET THIS.
