Super Smash Bros. Wii U & 3DS Details Revealed By Nintendo
Nintendo has revealed a wealth of new details regarding Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U and 3DS in their latest Nintendo Direct.
The 3DS version of Super Smash Bros. will be releasing first, this Summer, while the release date for the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros. will fall in Winter 2014.
Nintendo confirmed that the 3DS version of Super Smash Bros. will run at 60fps (aside from some assist trophies where the frame rate will drop to 30fps).
It was revealed that Zero Suit Samus, Sheik and Yoshi will be returning in the new Super Smash Bros. game and that Charizard and Greninja will be making their first appearance in the series.
Nintendo announced that, when playing against opponents who aren’t on your friends list online, there will be two online modes to choose from in Super Smash Bros.
‘For Fun’ will select a random stage (excluding Final Destination), will have all items available and will only record wins.
‘For Glory’ mode will have all battles take place in Final Destination, will not include any items and will record both wins and losses.
Nintendo confirmed that Super Smash Bros. will have a skill-based matchmaking system and that your online account will be linked to your Nintendo Network ID.
Nintendo announced an exclusive mode for the 3DS version of Super Smash Bros called Smash Run. In this mode, four players will have five minutes to explore a dungeon and collect power-ups, after which they’ll be placed into a battle.
