Stubbs The Zombie Spiritual Successor Revealed
Stubbs The Zombie: Rebel Without A Pulse is to receive a spiritual successor in the form of Ray’s The Dead from new indie devs, Ragtag, a collection of ex-Stubbs The Zombie developers.
Confirming that Ray’s The Dead was in development and was aiming to create a zombie experience that took its cues from Stubbs The Zombie and Nintendo’s Pikmin, Polygon recently spoke to ex-Stubbs The Zombie developers from Wideload who have established new studio, Ragtag.
Stubbs The Zombie: Rebel Without A Pulse become something of a cult classic when it cast players in the role of a zombie on the original Xbox and tasked them with converting the population of a small Fifties town into walking dead. Using Bungie’s Halo: Combat Evolved engine, it become known for its unique gameplay and light tone.
Ray’s The Dead’s concept art currently looks like a mixture of a top-down take on Stubbs The Zombie with a bit of Plants Vs Zombies thrown in. Ragtag doesn’t confirm what platform Ray’s The Dead is aiming for, but from the artwork an iOS, PSN and Xbox Live release would probably cover all the bases.
Ragtag wants to reignite player’s fondness for Stubbs with this spiritual successor. Ray’s The Dead is currently in development but is aiming for release over 2013’s Halloween period.
