StampyLonghead On His Rise To Fame: “I Actually Began Trying To Become A Games Journalist”
StampyLonghead – the Minecraft YouTuber who has almost hit 6.5 million subscribers – actually started by trying to become a games journalist.
Talking to Game On 2016, StampyLonghead – real name Joseph Garrett – opened up on his rise to fame.
“I actually began by trying to become a games journalist,” he explained. “When I first started doing videos, I was doing reviews, I was doing guides and top 10 countdowns of things, so that was the route I was trying to get into.
“I did that for about a year and a half and no one really watched it, but I still did a video almost every single day. During my final year at university and my job, I didn’t have time to do that kind of content, so that was the main reason I switched to Let’s Play.”
And that, of course, is where Stampy would find his fame through Minecraft Let’s Play videos.
Game On 2016 is out on October 1st.
