Sony Would Like To Bring Streaming To PC & Mobile
SCE Worldwide Studios boss, Shuhei Yoshida, has said that Sony would like to use their streaming technology to bring Playstation games to a range of devices, including PC, tablets and mobile.
“So we’re considering various things like PC, TVs, Blu-ray players, smartphones and tablets,” Yoshida continued. “We hope to continue to expand not only to Sony devices, but even to devices other than Sony’s. This is still being studied.”
Sony’s Gaikai technology will allow PS4 owners to stream PS3 games on their PS4 and Sony recently announced that the technology will also be used with PS Vita TV.
Hearing that Sony plans to use Gaikai technology to take Playstation games outside of the Playstation ecosystem is perhaps a little surprising, but certainly very interesting.
“We previously spoke about PlayStation going from hardware to something closer to a service,” said Yoshida. “Of course PlayStation will still be the center, but I think we would like to expand to different things.”
