Sega Bass Fishing Duel
Now this really is a bizarre one. The thing is, you probably already know if you like this or not without having to bother reading a review. This is one title most definitely targeted at a very specific niche audience. Come on, you know who you are. Firstly, you chug along in a little boat and pick a spot where you think there might be some fish hiding out. Then you cast out and, in doing so, get a view of what’s going on underwater. You jiggle your bait around and see if any fish want to bite it. If they don’t, then you try different bait. When you’ve selected a tasty lure that they’re interested in, they’ll bite it. Then you have to ‘hook’ the scaly fiends by pressing the shoulder buttons. Once you have one hooked, you have to rather frenziedly wobble the analogue sticks (or that fishing rod peripheral thing, if you have one) until you get it near the surface. If you then press the X button at the right moment, well, congratulations, you’ve got yourself a bass. And then repeat. There are four play modes – Vs Two-Player, Vs Computer, Tournament and Practise – a number of different fishermen for you to chose from, each with varied attributes, and the conditions change according to the seasons and time of day. If this sort of thing floats your boat, here you go, enjoy.
