Rainbow Six: Siege revealed – first gameplay impressions
Ubisoft once again surprised during its E3 2014 press conference, as it revealed Rainbow Six Siege.
The first Rainbow Six game in six years, it looks to return the series to tight and tense firefights, a far cry away from the long-delayed Patriots.
The gameplay trailer showcased a pre-alpha multiplayer match in action, which let us watch on as a team of soldiers tried to infiltrate a house and attempt a hostage rescue.
The five versus five gameplay looked very intense, boasting a huge amount of environmental destruction and tactical options for the players.
The match started with the soldiers rappelling down a house from the roof, and breaching a room via the window. A firefight between soldiers and criminals ensued.
The criminals were able to use the hostage as human shield and escape, while the soldiers could use remote drones to investigate the house safety before assessing the best way to proceed.
Eventually, the team decides to use using remote detonation charges – in combination with the environmental damage – to create custom breach points. The chaos and debris field created enough of a distraction to drag the hostage way.
Siege will be coming to Xbox One, though the release date in unspecified.
