PS4 Error CE-34878-0 Corrupting Save Files
A number of PS4 owners are reporting issues with their save files being corrupted and receiving the error code CE-34878-0.
It seems the problem isn’t related to a particular game, with PS4 owners reporting the issue in relation to FIFA 14, NBA 2K14, Battlefield 4 and Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag.
Indeed, it seems that DICE are aware of the problem, as evidenced by their response to the issue on Battlelog.
“We know that players on PS4 can get the ‘CE-34878-0 crash’ error message,” said DICE.
“This is in fact a general error code that you can receive when the game has crashed for a number of different reasons that are not related.
“You can help us to identify these individual issues by providing a few details in the crash report (we read all of them.) For example what game mode you were playing and on what map you crashed,” DICE continued.
DICE’s response suggests that error CE-34878-0 is a general error code and, as such, doesn’t necessarily indicate a common issue across all the games where the error is being encountered.
If that does prove to be true, then unfortunately it seems that a fix will rely on developers releasing patches for their own games, rather than being a case of Sony releasing a PS4 patch to fix error CE-34878-0.
