Old Republic: EA’s ‘Most Expensive Game’
Speaking at Janney Capital Markets' 2010 Consumer Conference yesterday, EA chief financial officer Eric Brown said that the game is, "the largest R&D project EA has ever undertaken in terms of total dollars that we expect to spend bringing the title to market" adding, "it is the highest-quality title EA ever released."
The publisher seems confident that the game will succeed commercially where Sony's poorly-received Star Wars Galaxies failed. Despite a slew of technical issues, Sony's title still retains a cult following.
Commenting on comparisions to EA's other MMO Warhammer Online, Brown stressed that while it has enjoyed, "a couple hundred thousand subscribers to date, the Star Wars MMO does indeed represent our primary emphasis vis a vis this category."
With EA and Bioware putting all their Wookies in one Landspeeder, is Star Wars: The Old Republic destined for greatness?
Could be, if our in-depth preview is to be believed. Read on and judge for yourself young Padawans…
