Nintendo Land Announced For Wii U – A Virtual Themepark For Wii U
Nintendo has showcased a new multiplayer game for Wii U called Nintendo Land.
Nintendo Land is essentially a collection of multiplayer mini games, each one based around one of Nintendo’s famous franchises. There will be 12 ‘rides’ in total including Zelda Battle Quest, Donkey Kong Crash Course, Luigi’s Ghost Mansion and one based on Animal Crossing.
Players will visit the themepark using their Miis; NintendoLand boasts full intergration with Nintendo’s newly-announced Miiverse social networking system.
Luigi’s Ghost Mansion features what Nintendo calls ‘asymetrical multiplayer gaming’, where one player has the Wii U GamePad and the other players use regular Wii controllers; the player with the GamePad plays a different role.
In Luigi’s Ghost Mansion that player takes on the role of the ghost whose objective to make all the players faint, meanwhile the other players must work together to track down and destroy the ghost using the power of their torches.
Using the GamePad screen the ghost player can see where the other players are but they cannot see the ghost at all. Only a rumble on their controllers gives away his location. Only when using their torches can they see and hurt him.
No release date for NintendoLand was given but expect it to be released alongside the Wii U later this winter.
