Is Microsoft Getting Ready To Revive Halo Wars?
Microsoft could be looking to revive Halo Wars, and that has us very excited.
A new team is being assembled to develop “the next instalment in a beloved strategy game franchise”, according to numerous job listings.
Decisive Games is being tasked with bringing the unknown strategy game to “the next generation of gamers around the world” for both Xbox and PC platforms.
Microsoft has two major strategy titles in its portfolio – Halo Wars and Age Of Empires – though we’d bet big bucks that it’ll be the former that’s looking to be revived by the company.
Rumours of a Halo Wars sequel have been circulating for years, even after original developer Ensemble Studios was closed in 2009. With Halo 5: Guardians and mobile game Halo: Spartan Strike on track for 2015 releases, Microsoft will be looking to make this a Master Chief heavy year.
Still, it’s likely we will have to wait until E3 2015 at the earlier to find out what Decisive Games is working on – though we got fingers crossed that Halo Wars, one of the most successful real-time console strategy games ever made, will get the sequel it always deserved.
