iPhone 5 Sells 5 Million Units In 3 Days
iPhone 5 sales have already reached a whopping five million units since becoming available on Friday 21 September, Apple has announced.
The iPhone 5 was available for pre-order for just a week prior to launch, and reached the 5m mark after just three days on sale in the UK, US, France, Germany, Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan.
“Demand for iPhone 5 has been incredible and we are working hard to get an iPhone 5 into the hands of every customer who wants one as quickly as possible,” Apple boss Tim Cook said.
“While we have sold out of our initial supply, stores continue to receive iPhone 5 shipments regularly and customers can continue to order online and receive an estimated delivery date. We appreciate everyone’s patience and are working hard to build enough iPhone 5s for everyone.”
16GB iPhone 5s in particular are in short supply, but Apple insists it will ship any outstanding pre-orders in October. Apple also claimed over 100m iOS devices have been updated to iOS 6.
