Homefront: The Revolution Unveiled, 2015 Release Date
Crytek has unveiled Homefront 2 – now known as Homefront: The Revolution – and some of the features of the game.
Homefront: The Revolution is coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC, is in development at Crytek UK and is due in 2015. No further dates were given.
It is set in an open world environment within Philadelphia, four years after the events of the original Homefront where North Korea invaded and conquered the USA.
Built on the CryEngine, this is said to be a “living, breathing open world” – and yes, it is still a first-person shooter – where players can interact with fellow revolutionaries.
You’ll be learning the art of guerrilla warfare to take place in un-scripted firefights, playing on the Homefront: The Revolution’s nature as an open-world shooter.
You’ll need to recruit revolutionaries, build bases and safehouses and you’ll even have the freedom to customise your arsenal as you build and upgrade your weaponry.
This open-world Philadelphia is said to have a “dynamic, evolving world” that will respond to your actions, helping them to rise up in defiance against the North Korean occupation.
Lastly, Homefront: The Revolution will have online co-op, allowing you to form a Resistance Cell with your friends.
Online Co-OP – take the battle online, form a Resistance Cell with your friends and earn your reputation as Heroes of the Revolution.
Crytek also released a video of Homefront: The Resistance to show it in action.
