Halo: Spartan Assault Revealed, But Is It For Hardcore Fans?
Halo: Spartan Assault has been rumoured recently, but while many expected it to be the next-gen Halo game the truth is the complete opposite.
Halo; Spartan Assault is coming to exclusively to Windows 8 for PC and Windows 8 phones.
It’s a twin-stick shooter that takes place inside a simulator to train UNSC soldiers as they relive important and famous battles of the franchise.
In other words, Halo 5 this is not.
“We wanted people to be able to play Halo when they weren’t sitting in front of their TVs,” said Dan Ayoub, executive producer of publishing at 343. “That was the primary goal in the development of it. And yeah, I mean we had a couple of additional goals.”
Ayoub added that Halo: Spartan Assault is likely targetting a more casual audience, saying “I think for the casual player who thinks that Halo’s kind of scary, then this is a more fun way to get into it and just start playing it.”
Meanwhile, for the “existing Halo player”, 343 Industries “went through some of the customisation details and stuff like that.”
Since Halo: Spartan Assault ties into the fiction of the universe – including Halo 4 – Ayoub added that “It’s a very cool way to continue your gameplay experience. Same sandbox you know, really cool fiction, all that stuff.”
We’ve added the trailer below, which includes some gameplay, for you to make your own assumptions up. Is this something that will make you buy a Windows 8 device?
