Gears Of War Developer Epic Working On 5 New Titles
Epic Games president Mike Capps has confirmed that the studio is working on five new titles during his GDC Europe keynote today.
Don’t expect them all to be the size of an average Gears game though.
“At Epic we didn’t multiply the studio size by five when we started working on these multiple projects, so you can make some assumptions about the size of those projects,” Capps said.
It could mean more XBLA or iOS projects in the vein of Shadow Complex and Infinity Blade, developed by Epic subsidiary Chair Entertainment, although Capps confirmed that a Shadow Complex sequel isn’t on the cards.
“Everyone knows the middle class is disappearing from the console business. Gears of War, I hope will do really well, but a pretty good game doesn’t make its money back any more. A game like Homefront sells a couple of million copies and they close the studio, right?” said Capps. “That’s not enough any more. That’s pretty depressing.”
Capps also confirmed that Epic is working on Unreal Engine 4, and that none of the studio’s new projects were Gears of War-related.
What could they be working on? A downloadable Unreal Tournament game? Infinity Blade 2?
