Epic ‘shocked’ by Fable Legends’ use of Unreal Engine
Lionhead’s co-op focused Xbox One exclusive Fable Legends may have a few surprises for fans of the series when it releases next year. It turns out that Epic Games, the makers of the Unreal Engine 4 that Lionhead is using for its game, have already been surprised by the Guildford-based developer.
Speaking exclusively to X-ONE recently, Epic’s vice president of business development Ray Davis told us the team had found Lionhead’s development with the new engine “shocking.”
“The Lionhead guys, they’ve been great partners and we are really impressed with the direction they went with Fable Legends,” Davis told us. “It was honestly quite shocking the first time we got a look at it, like, ‘Holy crap! We didn’t quite think we were at this level yet! It’s been awesome, especially as we’ve had the opportunity to take something like Fable’s light propagation volume code and bring it back into UE4 proper, and share it with any developer. So that’s been a great collaboration.”
