Dishonored Has ‘Two Main Endings’ – Arkane
Dishonored, Arkane Studios’ dark, supernatural first-person action game, will include two main endings, along with variations depending on what happened in your playthrough.
Asked via a Reddit IAmA whether player’s actions and Dishonored’s ‘Chaos’ affect the game in a pre-scripted or dynamic way, creative director Harvey Smith replied:
“It’s a bit of both. For most players, the effects over the course of the game will be fairly subtle. The mission checks the current level of Chaos so far and the following can happen: More pools of rats, more people with the plague (weepers), lines of dialogue/attitudes changed, additional scenes here and there, and different endgames.”
Dishonored will feature “two main endings, but each has variations based on who lived or died,” Smith added.
Even though the game will last between 12-24 hours, Dishonored is also hugely replayable, Smith added.
“We feel like the missions are very re-playable because there are different pathways to take, powers to use, styles (stealth vs combat), finding hidden areas, a few side missions, morality (lethal vs nonlethal).
“One of the things we love most is that this matrix of “stuff” plus our systemic approach to simulating powers and AI equates to little mini-stories that are unique to a specific player’s experience.”
It’s also possible to complete the game without killing anybody, Smith confirmed.
Dishonored hits PS3, PC and Xbox 360 on 12 October.
