Developer Interview: Respawn Entertainment on Titanfall 2
Years Active: 4
Biggest Hit: Titanfall
The past: “It’s been a wild ride,” says Abbie Heppe, community manager. “The team here is so happy with the success of Titanfall. I can’t believe it’s almost been over a year since it came out. It took a really long time for it to hit me that we’d shipped the game and it was real.”
What’s next: “We plan on continuing to make fun games but that’s all I can say right now. We had an amazing year and now it’s our turn to lay low and start plotting out the future… I think Microsoft has really gotten out ahead of everyone else with their cloud functionality, and it’s going to be interesting to see the rest of the industry chase them on that. Xbox One is a nice console with a competitive price and Microsoft seems to be doing a good job tweaking it and adding features. All that stuff will really matter for this gen.”
Whatever Respawn Entertainment is working on, it’s sure to be hugely exciting for the Xbox One. The studio reportedly has a second team hard at work on a non-Titanfall, very secret, project – apparently helmed by ex-Sony Santa Monica game director Stig Asmussen. E3 2015 can’t come soon enough.
