Bayonetta And Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance ‘Share Key Focus’ – Platinum
Bayonetta 2 might not ever happen but Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance could serve as the next best thing. Play has a world exclusive on the intriguing slash-‘em-up, backed by four interviews with members of Kojima Productions and Platinum Games, where they all talk in-depth about the collaborative project.
“Bayonetta does share the action genre with Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, and so they share a key focus,” Platinum Games’ Director Kenji Saito tells Play. “They have to feel great to play. We are approaching Revengeance with a focus on the same great control response you found in Bayonetta.”
“The Metal Gear world is firmly established and Platinum Games does not have free reign to do with it as we please,” continued Atsushi Inaba, producer at Platinum Games. “Instead, we all approach things from the standpoint that the gameplay should be very Platinum Games-esque, and from that point of view, we have been pretty free to design the action game elements to our liking.”
“It isn’t a stealth game but I tink the player will feel this is a Metal Gear series title by playing the game” explained Yuji Korekado, Producer at Kojima Productions.
With further insight fleshing out the coverage from Etsu Tamari, Lead Writer at Kojima Productions, the four talk all manner of subjects to do with Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance – the gameplay systems, what happened to the ‘cut anything’ mechanic, the tight deadlines, the unique partnership between the studios (“we often don’t agree on things”) and the mixed reaction to debut trailer.
