Batman: Arkham Knight – why it can only be done on next-gen
There aren’t many blockbuster games that are passing on Xbox 360 at the moment, even though the next-gen is solidifying its place, but Batman Arkham Knight is skipping last-gen to come to Xbox One. When we spoke to Rocksteady producer Dax Gin, we asked why this decision was made and found out it was entirely about one gameplay choice.
“Once we decided we were going to commit to the Batmobile, all these other technical decisions were made for us.” Gin revealed to X-ONE. “We knew that we had to do it right. The way people imagine the experience of driving the Batmobile is that it’s fast, that it’s destructive, it’s kind of a tank in Gotham City, but it’s also highly technical – all of those things can only be done on next-gen. That was a gameplay decision that drove technical decisions.”
