Alien: Isolation confirmed for Xbox One and Xbox 360
After months of speculation and leaks, SEGA has finally announced Alien: Isolation and released the first official details on The Creative Assembly’s long-rumored Alien title.
Set 15 years after the events of the original Alien movie, Isolation follows Ellen Ripley’s daughter Amanda, who’s sent aboard the remote trading station Sevastopol on a mission to recover the flight recorder of her mother’s ship, the Nostromo.
“When she left Earth, Ellen Ripley promised her daughter Amanda she would return home for her 11th birthday. Amanda never saw her again,” reads the official story synopsis. “Fifteen years later, Amanda, now a Weyland-Yutani employee, hears that the flight recorder of her mother’s ship, the Nostromo, has been recovered at the remote trading station Sevastopol.
“The temptation for her to finally understand what happened is too much to resist. When the crew arrive at Sevastopol, they find something is desperately wrong. It all seems to be connected to an unknown menace, stalking and killing deep in the shadows. In order to uncover the truth about her mother, Amanda is forced to confront the same terrifying thing that separated them.”
Alien: Isolation is SEGA’s response to years of god-awful games based on the Alien license; this could be the one we’ve been waiting for though. A survival horror game at heart, the focus is on avoiding combat and trying to stay alive. A good tactic when you’ve got a lone unkillable, and incredibly deadly, Xenomorph stalking the station.
The first trailer can be seen here, and expect a longer preview of Alien: Isolation later in the week.
