Activision Is Reportedly Developing A New Guitar Hero For Xbox One
Old rivalries never die. Just days after we reported that Harmonix is supposedly developing Rock Band 4, a leak has revealed that Activision is hard at work on a new Guitar Hero game due for releae in 2015.
Kotaku is reporting that it will take “a more realistic approach” than its predecessors, with an overall polish to the presentation to make it “look more in-line with real life.”
The new Guitar Hero is expected to be announced at E3 2015 for Xbox One and PS4, while new guitar peripherals are already in development as well. There’s no word on whether Activision is striving to make old peripherals compatible.
An Activision spokesperson said that – as always – the company does not comment on rumour or speculation. The spokesperson did however throw some fuel on the anticipation fire: “We don’t comment on rumour or speculation, but have previously said, that as one of the most beloved entertainment franchises, we would only bring Guitar Hero back if we developed the right innovations to usher the franchise into the new generation of gaming.”
If rumours are to be believed, Rock Band 4 is set to be revealed at next week’s PAX East. It’ll be interesting to see how the years have changed both franchises.
