A Long-Lost Tomb Raider Short Film Has Been Found, Probably Should Have Stayed Lost
We have mixed feelings on the Tomb Raider adaptations we’ve seen on the big screen. On the one hand Angelina Jolie is great (accent not amazing, but whatever), on the other hand the movies were a bit naff. Thankfully not as naff as this.
Lost for 18 years, this short film entitled Tomb Raider: The Trilogy was screened at the Tomb Raider 3 launch party at the Natural History Museum in London, but never released beyond that event. It’s been lost for all these years until Producer Janey de Nordwall found the digital tape of the film.
Now the official Tomb Raider YouTube channel has uploaded it for everyone to *ahem* enjoy.
Frankly, we’re not fans. While it’s attempting to capture the amazing fandom surrounding the Tomb Raider series at the time, and the detective drama take is a nice spin, we’re not sure our suspension of disbelief extends to a guy who believes Lara Croft the videogame character is his girlfriend. Watch it for yourself and see what you think.
