Xbox One: Microsoft “Cheaped Out On The RAM”
Stardock CEO Brad Wardell has contributed to the debate as to why the Xbox One seems to struggle hitting 1080p resolutions in comparison to the PS4.
Asked whether the problems are to do with memory bandwidth and not utilising eSRAM efficiently, in a conversation instigated by Gamepur, Wardell said, via Twitter, “that’s our take as well. MS cheaped out on the RAM.”
Wardell went on to clarify that comment by saying, “I just wish they’d used DDR5”, in reference to the fact that the Xbox One uses the cheaper DDR3 RAM.
Wardell has previously indicated that he believes performance on the Xbox One will improve once DirectX 12 comes to the console.
However, he’s also clarified that statement by suggesting that the implementation of DirectX 12 won’t allow the Xbox One to catch up with the PS4.
We will have to wait to find out how accurate Wardell’s comments prove to be.
