Stimulus Package Broken
The new Stimulus Package, launched mere moments ago is… well… broken.
Having tried numerous times to get into games under the new Stimulus Play List, we've discovered that all of the maps disallow entry, resetting themselves repeatedly to the intermission timer.
The preview screen for each map appears as a single chequered image, along with the map name as it probably was during the debug stage.
We have attempted to contact Activision about the problem. Rumours are currently flying that a dashboard update is apparently yet to arrive and that this may be the issue. We shall keep you posted.
Update 1: As per Robert Bowling's blog entry detailing everything we need to know about the Stimulus Package, the Infinity Ward man mentions a title update for the game, which enables MW2 players to access the DLC. It was supposed to launch along side, but it seems if you've got the DLC you may have to wait a while:
"Along side the DLC, but something ALL of our users will get, is a title update for Modern Warfare 2. Included in this update is support for the DLC (if you choose to purchase it), as well as some tweaks to the One Man Army perk, some matchmaking updates that will help our international users find more locally hosted games thanks to how ping is now sorted, and various other code updates that will help improve the overall quality of multiplayer on Modern Warfare 2.
There is no exact time you can expect all this, I’d say early morning when traffic is at its lowest, but by the time you wake up and get online I’m sure it will be available to most of you on March 30th! See you online all this week!"
Update 2: Major Nelson has confirmed that the problems lie in Microsoft's court with the following Tweet:
"The engineers are already engaged and working on the MW2 Stimulus Pack problem. They'll get is corrected."
Update 3: As we suspected: It's the title update.
Major Nelson has tweeted: "The Stimulus Package needs a Title Update and it didn't go out properly. We're pushing it out now – it won't be long."
