Sacred 3 Developer Apologises For Sacred 3 – But Why?
One of the developers on Sacred 3 has apologised for… well, for Sacred 3.
The bizarre apology came on the Steam discussion page for Sacred 3 where Sascha Wagentrotz, a former developer on the RPG, begun by saying “I’ve read a lot of hate against my former employer keen games, that they destroyed the franchise (on purpose)… All I can say is, that you should not overestimate the power of a developer in a “work for hire” constellation with a big publisher.”
He then says the marketing department is to blame for the direction Sacred 3 went in – “The marketing department of Deep Silver was the only one with enough power to change the direction of the franchise” – which he then suggests led to the lack of open world and lack of loot.
He also mentions that the story and in-game chatter were outsourced to another studio.
It’s the first time we can recall a developer apologising for a game they’ve worked on straight after its release. For those who have played Sacred 3, do you feel as though you deserved an apology?
