Verdict
More of the same is often no bad thing
This game is so rammed full of air-punching testosterone and screen-shaking explosions we’re surprised it wasn’t developed by Sylvester Stallone. The action harks back to the sweeping 360-degree shooting action of Commando and Smash TV, but it has been yanked up to date with crisp visuals and some natty new moves – like the essential ‘dodge roll’ that enables you to evade the enemy gunfire that rains down.

Apart from being able to obliterate any enemy installation, vehicle and ground troop, added satisfaction comes thanks to destructible terrain, ridable vehicles and weapons you could threaten an entire solar system with if you so wish. You can either play singularly (good luck!) or with a mate in co-operative mode – but do you value their added gunfire enough to let them have that lone weapon upgrade?
Final Verdict
Like its predecessor, hugely enjoyable, if a little shallow. 8.3/10
