Verdict
Flick the switch, move the platform, pick up the flashy shit...
If anyone hasn’t seen Wall•E on the big screen yet, go see it. It’s nothing short of sublime. Which tips the scale perhaps even more unfortunately when stood alongside its console sibling. It does its job, some might say; tying in with the movie and allowing the player control of Wall•E and Eve, but with such fantastic source material, we really should expect more.

Essentially a platformer, you’ll take control between the aforementioned protagonists alternately; Wall•E (damn that • symbol is annoying – alt-8, if you’re interested) spends most of his time compacting trash and lobbing it at targets, solving simple puzzles and hunting down collectables. Eve on the other hand spends her levels flying, shooting and completing various challenges in both disciplines along the way – interspersed are a couple of levels where you’ll need to use them co-operatively.
Okay, so Wall•E is clearly aimed at a younger audience and as such, is uncomplicated. Or so it should be. Wall•E can be pretty illogical and daft when it wants to be, leaving us to wonder who exactly it is aimed at. Apart from being one of the most boring games we’ve had the ‘pleasure’ of playing in recent times, it also has some game-breaking camera issues; sometimes the damn thing just won’t do as it’s told. The Eve levels are by far the most entertaining, but only when put alongside those featuring our titular hero. Put alongside everything else it sits, rots and stinks.
Final Verdict
Small kids might like it, but will need supervision to solve some of the later puzzles. Adults beware. 3.7/10
