Verdict
Is Atari’s latest horse-riding sim just a one-trick pony?
Has it been one of your lifelong girlish dreams to have your very own pony? If it has then you’re in luck, because My Horse And Me offers equestrian fans a chance to look after and compete with their very own virtual horse. Trouble is, the ‘colour bubble world’ menu system you have to use is clunky, buggy and incredibly frustrating.

Visuals in the game are quite impressive initially, but unfortunately they have no depth to them. Crowds are merely the same few people cut ‘n’ pasted around the course, and it’s unfair for the developer to hope the target audience won’t notice this.
The gameplay doesn’t make up for the long loading times, either. It’s repetitive and glitchy at times, and when we rode in the indoor arena a roof rafter would occasionally block your vision. The grooming section is equally disappointing and not interactive enough and the horse doesn’t even move when you brush it, nor does it flinch when you spray water in its eye with the hose.
Still, there is a point to all this horsing around – players can earn rewards, such as clothing or new courses, by completing challenges and winning events. The mini-games and multiplayer also help to add longevity to the game, while the customisation mode offers the chance for you to pimp your ride. However, we can’t help but feel it’s all a little unfinished.
Final Verdict
Hold your horses on this one – even dedicated fans will be a tad disappointed. 4.0/10
