Verdict
Less fun than a Dalek toilet-cleaning convention…
Top Trumps is a game everyone remembers fondly, even if it’s only a very simple number comparison game. But that’s not what Top Trumps are about. Cards kept carefully in a transparent plastic case, shoved into a battered satchel on the way to school. Within lied the stats for all our favourite heroes and villains. We’d pore over them, not always playing, just looking. And now Doctor Who has got in on the act.

You could just buy a packet of Dr Who Top Trumps for a mere four pounds or fork out seven times the amount on the DS version. And what a version it is! Please note the elephant dung-sized dollop of sarcasm. This isn’t really a game, in fact you’ll spend most of the time not pushing any buttons at all. The screen flickers static animations as it decides on a stat before automatically comparing it to yours. You’ll often get close to winning and then it’ll throw a curveball and you’ll be on a losing streak, for probably the third or fourth time. It’s a game about memory but it should lead you in. It took us over half as hour to beat the first level, probably because we found matching up odd socks more interesting.
Final Verdict
A bit pointless. Save your money and buy a pack of Top Trumps instead. 2.0/10
