Rare Making Free-To-Play, Windows 8 Mobile & Tablet Games
Rare, the maker of Kinect Sports, Banjo-Kazooie and Goldeneye 64, could be set to head in a number of new directions, including free-to-play games, and apps for Windows 8-powered mobile and tablet devices.
Three new Microsoft job ads for Rare hinted at the new projects – one listing for a Lead Producer reads: “Experience around delivering and running online services or Free-to-play experiences would be a distinct advantage.”
Other ads still mention Xbox 360 development experience. Could we see a free-to-play Xbox game from Rare? It certainly sounds feasible since Microsoft confirmed the first F2P titles for the console.
We’re sure the ads refer to games, but it does sound as if Rare is diversifying yet again after creating Xbox’s Avatars and doing a lot of work on Kinect.
