PS4 Vs Xbox One: ‘PS4 Outselling Xbox One 2:1’
According to games console comparison website ConsoleDeals, the PS4 is outselling the Xbox One by a factor of 2:1 in the lead up to the consoles’ launch.
The website says that the PS4 accounts for 25% of their console sales, roughly twice as much as the Xbox One’s 12%.
Whether this figure matches the sales of other retailers we don’t yet know, but there’s no doubt that the negative reactions Microsoft has suffered since their Xbox One E3 reveal has created a sense that Sony are currently in pole position with the PS4.
Indeed, this isn’t the first time that it’s been suggested that the PS4 will outsell the Xbox One in the early running.
According to the site’s owner, Phil Jones, the disparity in sales is likely a result of the fact that the Xbox One costs £429, in comparison to the PS4’s £349.
“The overall power and performance between the two consoles is very similar, and with a smaller range of unique IPs available on Xbox One, and an inflated price compared to its competitor, we are seeing gamers leaning towards the PS4.”
While we agree with Jones’ assessment regarding the price of the two consoles, some might question the idea that the PS4 has a larger range of unique IPs, at launch at least.
We’re also not sure about the idea that the two consoles are similar in power and performance, given that there have been multiple reports that the PS4 is more powerful than the Xbox One.
Of course, the extent to which all the talk on the PS4 and Xbox One will translate to actual sales won’t be clear until both consoles are actually released.
