Next-Gen Engine: Activision Preparing For GDC Reveal
Activision is preparing to show off its next-gen game engine at this year’s GDC, according to Activision’s Jorge Jimenez.
Jimenez, part Activision’s real-time graphics research and development team, has stated on his personal blog that Activision is preparing to show off a next-gen engine at GDC 2013.
Jimenez will apparently lead a 60-min presentation where he will discuss ‘photorealistic eyes rendering and deformation’.
The official GDC schedule describes the talk as showing:
“high-quality next-generation shading driven with a plausible game rig. Ultimately, our goal is to overcome the uncanny valley with next-gen run-time techniques and good artistic direction.”
Logic would dictate that the engine being shown at GDC could be the same one that will ultimately power the next generation of Call Of Duty. Will GDC give us an unofficial glimpse at the future visuals of CoD?
Jimnenez’s impressive in-engine screens are reason enough to get excited, though.
