Crytek Concerned By German Games Ban

The Crysis and Far Cry dev has spoken out over the proposed ban on violent games in its homeland
"A ban on action games in Germany is concerning us because it is essentially like banning the German artists that create them," said co-founder Cevat Yerli. "If the German creative community can't effectively participate in one of the most important cultural mediums of our future, we will be forced to relocate to other countries.”
Crytek was founded in the German town of Coburg, and now bases its HQ in Frankfurt, but with offices elsewhere in Europe – including Nottingham after the acquisition of Free Radical at the start of the year – the developer could emigrate if the ban gets through German parliament.

"The current political discussion will deprive German talent of its place on the global game development stage and deprive German consumers of entertainment that is considered safe and fun around the world," added Yerli.
Crytek is currently working on Crysis 2 and recently announced that the third iteration of its CryENGINE would be compatible with Xbox 360 and PS3 platforms, as well as Windows.
