PS3

Taiwanese website UDN has reported that Sony has agreed production of a slimline PS3 with two Taiwanese manufacturers.

According to the site, Sony has placed OEM orders for the revised console with motherboard producer Foxconn Electronics and Pegatron, an OEM component manufacturing subsidiary of Asus. Each company will reportedly handle half of the total order, with shipments due to start sometime this month.

The news reignites rumours surrounding alleged images of a slim PS3 that emerged online ahead of E3. We confidently predicted that the console wouldn’t make an appearance at the show, but now it seems it could make an appearance in a matter of weeks.

“The report gains credibility amid the rumours of an impending PS3 price-cut”

The report also gains credibility amid the rumours of an impending PS3 price-cut, which would help Sony shift its current stock. Foxconn Electronics has since declined to comment on the story, citing “customer confidentiality” as the reason. Surely if all this didn't have some truth about it, they’d tell us? Right?
