Assassin's Creed II to address original's flaws

Assassin's Creed II's producer Sebastien Puel says he is taking on board criticisms levelled at the original game

“It’s always a difficult process for every videogame developer to get their ‘baby’ reviewed by the press following such long involvement in a project,” Puel told us.

“The comments we received on Assassin’s Creed had lots of impact on the conception of Assassin’s Creed II and we are definitely aiming to enhance the game experience. Assassin’s Creed was generally acclaimed for being very innovative for a next-generation game, but we know it had its flaws.

“The entire game structure and mission system/story was the most central element for us to improve”

This time around, we have the technology and the base we developed for the first game, therefore we can concentrate all our efforts on making the gameplay really exciting and varied and in the end make a great blockbuster game.”

Puel went on to say that Assassin’s Creed’s weakest area was in its mission and game structure, which Ubisoft is working hard to address.

“The entire game structure and mission system/story was the most central element for us to improve following the feedback on the game,” he says.

“We want [Assassin's Creed II] to be unpredictable and full of epic moments that will immerse you in our story featuring numerous characters and environments. We are redefining the mission gameplay structure to give gamers a more enjoyable and rewarding experience.”
