Star Trek Online receives its first expansion today, upping the level cap and adding enough add-ons to make William Shatner blush.

Star Trek Online: Ancient Enemies was announced via the official Star Trek Online website today. The free expansion can be downloaded from the Star Trek Online site.

Star Trek Online: Ancient Enemies raises the level cap up from 45 to 51 and adds eight new chapters for the Kilngon race, new Tier 5 ships for Federation and Kilgon classes, a slew of minigames and extra ship customisation options.

Check out our in-depth Star Trek Online review here, where we suggested the game would become awesome if the developer added more content.

Now it's looking better than ever. Kudos Cryptic Studios!
