Electronic Arts has announced it will publish a single-player RPG codenamed 'Project Mercury' on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC
The title is in development at Big Huge Games, which is owned by 38 Studios, a company founded by avid gamer - and US baseball legend - Curt Schilling.
Ken Rolston, lead designer on Elder Scrolls III and IV is heading up the project, while best-selling fantasy author R. A. Salvatore, and comic-book veteran Todd McFarlane are both involved in development of the game.
“We are creating an enormous world”
“From day one, 38 Studios has been focused on creating the next generation of entertainment experiences that embrace all mediums, including film, television, comics, novels, toys and, of course, games,” said Curt Schilling, Chairman of 38 Studios. “We are creating an enormous world, with heroes and villains and a rich back story from the brilliant minds of R. A., Todd and Ken at its heart, and I can think of no finer partner than the global powerhouse that is EA Partners.
Now retired from baseball, World of Warcraft fan Schilling announced he would be working in games, when Project Mercury was originally announced as an MMORPG under the working title Copernicus. See some concept art below, or find out more at 38 Studios site...
