Shenmue 3 On Xbox One? Phil Spencer Calms Expectations
Spencer admits it's 'not likely' a Microsoft first-party studio will build Shenmue 3.

New Xbox boss Phil Spencer got the Shenmue fanbase hot under the collar when he mentioned Shenmue 3 was the biggest request he heard from gamers - but Spencer now seems to be trying to cool expectations from those fans.
"There is just no winning in answering Shenmue questions," Spencer admitted on Twitter. "I'm not likely to have one of our first party studios build Shenmue."
And while Spencer says he would "welcome Shenmue on XBOX", he reiterates that it's not something Microsoft's first-party is going to build.
"I knew it was trouble to start answering Shenmue questions," he adds. "I'd rather have us focusing on our own franchises."
And so it seems we're no closer to seeing a resolution to the long-standing drama over Shenmue 3, a game which is now being used as a pawn in the battle between Xbox One and PS4 - Mark Cerny's friendship with Shenmue creator Yu Suzuki has been played up to the point where the two took to the stage at GDC for a Shenmue post-mortem discussion while Spencer has mentioned Shenmue 3 is the most requested game.
