Ubisoft Outs Driver, Assassin's Multiplayer

In a press release detailing the company's third quarter performance Ubisoft has said to expect a new Driver game and an online multiplayer episode of Assassin's Creed in the fiscal year 2010-2011

According to the PR: "The 2010-11 fiscal year will see a greater number of franchise releases than in 2009-10, including Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction, a new game in the Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon series, Prince of Persia The Forgotten Sands, Driver, Raving Rabbids 4 and a new episode of Assassin’s Creed, which will be the first in the series to have an online multiplayer mode."

As we reported yesterday, Ubisoft  confirmed Splinter Cell: Conviction had been delayed until April. We're guessing the Assassin's Creed episode will be bolted onto Assassin's Creed II, rather than a new title.

“The 2010-11 fiscal year will see a greater number of franchise releases”

Meanwhile, Ubisoft revised it's full year sales targets for 2009-10 from €1,040 million to €860 million, citing ailing DS revenues, 'market concentration' on Triple AAA titles, and the aforementioned delayed titles.

[UPDATE: A Ubisoft rep has apparently confirmed to Kotaku that the Assassin's Creed title will be a standalone game that includes a mutiplayer component, and features Ezio de Auditore from ACII - it will not be Assassin's Creed II DLC]
